Therapy, also called talking therapy, is a form of treatment aimed at relieving emotional distress and mental health problems.

It involves examining and gaining insight into life choices and difficulties faced by individuals, couples, or families.

Therapy sessions refer to structured meetings between a therapist and a client with a goal of improving some aspect of their life.

Therapy encompasses many types of treatment and is practiced by a range of clinicians using a variety of strategies.

The critical aspect is that the client or patient works collaboratively with the therapist and can identify improvement and positive change over time.

Most therapies in wide use have been well-tested and deemed effective.

Though it may at first feel difficult to seek out therapy, the benefits of successful therapy are literally life-changing.

REIKI ENERGY HEALING
(Traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho System)

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing, and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low or out of balance, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word “Reiki” means “mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign.” It comes from the Japanese words “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life energy). Reiki is a type of energy healing.

Energy healing targets the energy fields around the body, which can stagnate where there has been physical injury or emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness.

Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure.

Reiki has been around for thousands of years. Its current form was first developed in 1922 by a Japanese Buddhist called Mikao Usui, and our Reiki Master Teacher has his Traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho lineage tracing back to Dr Usui.

HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnosis is often associated with the strange, weird and mysterious it is the domain of witches, faith healers and stage shows!

The truth is that hypnosis is not the least bit mysterious. Humans have often been in a hypnotic state, but unaware of it because it is such a natural state of mind.

In fact, you enter into a state of hypnosis many times a day. Let me give you some examples:

  • When you arrive at your destination and don’t even remember how you got there because your mind was somewhere else - that is a state of hypnosis.
  • If you are watching TV and someone is talking to you, but you don’t hear a word they say because you are so focused on your show – that is a state of hypnosis!

The practise of promoting healing or positive development in any way is known as hypnotherapy. As such, hypnotherapy is a kind of psychotherapy.

Hypnotherapy aims to re-program patterns of behaviour within the mind, enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions to be overcome.
